Research Geophysicist

Houston - United States

We’re looking for a creative, innovative geophysicist with a deep understanding of operational use to help create differentiated capability in seismic imaging algorithms and workflows. The role will include creation and development of both algorithms and workflows

Role and Responsibilities:

Investigate approaches to model building and imaging applied to existing projects and propose improvements to the workflow.

Conduct research on methods to improve processing of seismic data to include building of velocity models with full waveform inversion.

Implement prototypes to validate novel approaches to build more accurate models faster and demonstrate on current challenges.

Make independent decisions on technical issues and recommend scientific solutions to specific problems.

Maintain your area of scientific expertise, continually expand your technical knowledge, and keep up to date on developments within your domain.

Coordinate assembly of prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing. Ensure agreed commitments are met. Design proper testing procedures.

Maintain familiarity with company technology, organization and business.

Publish documents, presentations and technical audits.

Mentor and coordinate technical efforts of other contributors.

Participate in recruiting.

Effectively communicate the results of your work, both internally and externally as appropriate.

Qualifications and Requirements:

PhD in a related discipline or equivalent research experience.

Detailed knowledge of state of the art imaging tools including migration velocity model building and full waveform inversion.

Proven track record of seismic processing and imaging research that delivered operational products enhancing the ability to image data.

Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
