Description

The Data Scientist II uses mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions. The Data Scientist II work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities

The Data Scientist II develops, maintains, and collects structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum 1 year of technical experience

Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting

Experience in creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business

Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions

Capable of making decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Work-At-Home Requirements

At minimum, a download speed of 25 mbps and an upload speed of 10 mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Possesses an understanding of department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas

Experience with data visualization

Understanding of provider networks

Covid-19 Vaccine Policy

According to Humana's COVID-19 policy, vaccination and masking is required regardless of vaccination status (with exception for eating and drinking) for associates working in a clinical setting where patients receive care (e.g., pharmacy retail locations, clinics, home care). The policy only requires the primary series alone (first and second vaccine). Boosters are encouraged, but not required.
