Summary:
The Bristol-Meyers Squibb Immune-Oncology and Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center is dedicated to research supporting development of novel cellular immunotherapies. Our goal is to revolutionize medicine by re-engaging the body’s immune system to treat cancer.
We are looking for a motivated candidate to join our T Cell Biology & Engineering. This team member will develop and execute novel platforms to generate biological enhancements to CAR-T cells, using new and emerging technologies to modify genetic pathways in CAR-T cells and employing a range of cellular T cell profiling and functional assay endpoints to evaluate promising leads.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Design and execute cell-based experiments to support exploratory research in preclinical development
Perform cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques in cellular immunology and T cell functional assays including proliferation assays, intracellular cytokine staining, and Luminex/ELISA., multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot, RT-PCR, RNA preparation, viral transduction, mammalian cell transfection, gene editing or knockdown, immunoprecipitation, and western blotting.
Keep up with latest technological and scientific approaches to Immuno-Oncology research using literature and other sources.
Collaborate effectively and cultivate positive and productive relationships with other scientists within and outside the organization.
Present to manager, project team and work groups, provide scientifically rigorous analysis and review of data and help plan next steps.
Contribute to written invention disclosures, internal and external regulatory reports as needed.
Participate in maintenance of routine laboratory instrumentation and supplies
Adherence to laboratory safety policies and practices
May supervise other research associates as needed.
Qualifications:
Prerequisite
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience
Functional / Technical/ Scientific Skills and Knowledge Required:
Planning skills to execute on multiple work streams and provide timely and prioritized results Capability to independently troubleshoot in a fast-paced dynamic environment, with flexible and changing priorities in a multi-disciplinary, multi-site team oriented environment. Excellent communication skills with experience preparing public presentations and/or peer-reviewed manuscripts Strong personal initiative, flexibility and innovative approach to problem solving are required. Required technical experience and scientific proficiency:
T cell biology including understanding of the role of T cells in health and disease, the significance of T cell subsets and their functional interactions in the tumor microenvironment.
High-parameter (10 color) flow cytometry (FACS), T cell culture, Luminex, microscopy, RNA and protein purification and analysis (Taqman and western blot), including demonstrated capability to analyze and interpret data.
Ex vivo genetic manipulation of primary T cells, including viral and non-viral gene delivery.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with development and execution of high-throughput functional screening, including use of robotics for high-throughput liquid handling and cellular analysis.
Prior experience with gene editing approaches such as CRISPr, TALENs or ZFNs.
High-content data analysis of large sample sets; ability to adopt new approaches to high-content data analysis and visualization.
