This position is for a Scientist I supporting the NA Region Candy & Seasonals team. You will work independently to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D, marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life test‐ ing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product development, you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.You will build your knowledge and expertise in Candy technology and the competitive landscape. Strong collaboration is expected as you partner internally with Marketing, global category technical experts, Process Development, central research, Consumer Science and Supply Chain, along with suppliers and external research.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead critical programs with a strong focus on consumer led design and technical rigor
Drive excellence in project management and be able to handle multiple projects
Be able to manage multiple stakeholders and cross-functional partners
Have some knowledge of the I2M process, product specifications and cGMP
Be able to plan and execute work plans, including development of risk assessments and contingency plans
Identify and efficiently utilize necessary resources to achieve timely delivery of project objectives.
Lead scoping, development and execution of innovation, product optimization, brand value, and quality improvement launches from Lab through commercialization of assigned project(s); deliver against KPIs
Deliver spec excellence for all project tracks
Support assessment of IP strategy, FTO as it relates to brand initiatives
Provide broad thinking to project technical tracks
Accountable for sharing best practices, knowledge transfer, and contributing to competency development across the RDQ team. This is accomplished via verbal, written and online sharing of learning.
Qualifications
Major: Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
3-5 years’ relevant experience with proven track record of successful product launches and product development technology
Experience in the Food Industry preferred
Experience in ingredient functionality, formulation, and commercialization
Ability to travel up to 40%
