BMS-Devens site currently has an open position for associate scientist within the Biologics Analytical Development and Attribute Sciences - Method Development team.
The Associate Scientist will be responsible for supporting development of analytical separation-based methods within the Biologics Methods Development Group part of Biologics Analytical Development and Attribute Sciences (BADAS). The Method Development group focuses on development of robust chromatographic and electrophoretic methods for protein-based therapeutics for late phase programs. The role will involve method development, evaluation, optimization and design of Experiments so as to establish robust techniques to support future commercial activities. The successful candidate will work closely with Process Development and Quality Testing groups within BMS network and external contract laboratories. The role will have active interaction with Analytical Science and Technology (AS&T), Process Analytics and network method development teams. The successful candidate is expected to take active role in the planning and execution of basic analytical method development, validation and verification experiments, and deliver quality analytical data for method development reports in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a team player, and have knowledge and experience on Analytical Electrophoretic and Chromatographic techniques as they apply to Biologics. Techniques of particular interest include Capillary Electrophoresis, Isoelectric Focusing, Liquid Chromatography, LC-MS and Gel Electrophoresis.
Responsibilities:
Develop, qualify and characterize bio-analytical methods for monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins to support product release and stability studies
Method transfer to GxP labs, CROs and CMO
Work closely within Matrix environment to support Process Development, Analytical Development and Testing, and AS&T analytical requirements and engage in long-term collaboration.
Authors and reviews technical documents and protocols; follows written scientific methods and experimental protocols, documents lab note books, authors and reviews development and qualification summary reports.
Contribute analytical perspective to PD design of experiments and AS&T study protocols.
Support testing site investigations as required.
Support trending system suitability data to track assay performance.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have
A degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related discipline.
MS with 0 years or BS with 4 years relevant experience in Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry.
A strong background in the areas of analytical chemistry/biochemistry, with strong emphasis on experience and in-depth working knowledge in at least one of the following areas: (1) CE, iCE, conventional protein gel electrophoresis; (2) Analytical LC techniques
Experience with diverse detection systems (UV/FL/CAD/DLS), LC-MS is a plus
Working knowledge of design of experiments (DoE) and JMP is a plus
Experience with cGMP as applied to analytical methods is desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Works independently and as part of a team
