Principal Scientist, Chemistry

We are seeking an outstanding scientist to contribute to the ongoing innovation in BMS as a scientific contributor and leader supporting the Immunology & Neuroscience Chemistry team. The candidate will have exemplary problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to generate, aggregate, and interpret multi-parameter data to formulate actionable hypotheses and strategies. The successful candidate will work directly with the Project Teams and Early Development Teams, therapeutic area leadership, other research disciplines, and CROs in support of our portfolio from program inception to clinical proof of concept. This role will be based in Cambridge, MA and will have opportunities to impact the broader BMS Research & Early Development pipeline.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in a scientific discipline with 8 years pharmaceutical chemistry industrial experience or
M.S. in a scientific discipline with 12 years pharmaceutical chemistry industrial experience or
B.S. in a scientific discipline with 14 years pharmaceutical chemistry industrial experience
Works with project teams to set and deliver on objectives. Responsible for data review, analysis, interpretation, and communication from a variety of sources and evaluates the impact on research projects and goals. Provides input into Go/No-Go decisions for projects.
Represents the team internally and externally within scientific and business communities.
Identifies product and/or technology alliances with academic, government, and industry partners.
Ideate and lead scientific programs and initiatives.
Independently design, plan, execute, and interpret complex activities to progress drug discovery initiatives.
Demonstrates leadership skills and an eagerness to work collaboratively with other functional groups.
Intentional mentor partnering in the professional development of colleagues.
Productively interacts with cross-functional scientists and communicates progress against goals in a multi-disciplinary setting.
Demonstrated problem-solving as evidenced by a strong track record of publications and pharmaceutical portfolio impacts.
Extensive experience in drug discovery, sought as a scientific expert.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
