Description

The Lead Data Scientist leads the team to evaluate Humana's clinical programs and initiatives through observational studies or modeling development. Identifies and leverages structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance.

Responsibilities

Humana is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to work with clinical program owners to gain solid understanding of clinical and operational aspects of the program, suggesting and conducting analytical approaches and steps to answer business questions. This could include:


Design and conduct ROI analysis to demonstrate clinical program's impact to financial trend.
Develop economic models to project potential trend impacts from pilot programs.
Collaborate with other trend teams to communicate trend impact to leaders.
Participate company level Test and Learn committee as a statistical expertise.
Explore new analytic approaches to answer business questions.
Drive strategy and lead projects for the team, there could be a potential to lead a team of up to 1-4 analysts.


Required Qualifications


Master's Degree
4 or more years of data science, statistical, economics, or analytical experience
2 or more years of healthcare research experience with knowledge of experimental study methodology (e.g. randomized control trials) and/or observational study methodology (e.g. propensity-score matching)
2 or more years project leadership experience
Advanced proficiency in SAS, SQL, Python and/or R
Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions
Successful demonstrated experience in working on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial
Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting
Experience in creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business
Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks
Ability to works under minimal supervision, using independent judgment
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences


Preferred Qualifications


PhD
Knowledge in Power BI and/or machine learning
