This Sr. Scientist position is responsible for evaluating the incoming new projects from downstream process transferred from the research team, working in the Process Development group. Assists team lead to oversee downstream vaccine process and development across different stages from preclinical through Phase III, and commercialization. Lead the downstream groundwork include but not limited to chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, viral clearance, residual removal for downstream purification.

• As a SME of downstream process, evaluates, develops and optimizes the process parameters, provide timely technical solutions and instructions for process parameters optimization, process characterization to develop robust and transferable process.

• Troubleshoots issues related to the process and product and uses DOE to design the experiment and to analyze the results. 
n
• Responsible for writing scientific and process technical reports and transfer the method and work with the clinical production team to support and generate the SOPs and batch record. 
n
• Supports investigational new drug (IND) chemistry-manufacturing-control (CMC) section writing. Guide/train junior level associates.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
n•    Degree in protein science, or biology related field. PhD with minimal 3 years' relevant experience, or M.S. with 6 years relevant experiences. Advanced degree preferred.
n•    Minimum 4 years direct experience in downstream purification.
n•    Deep knowledge/vision of protein science and downstream purification and process.
n•    Ability to think creatively in order to solve complex problems
n•    Team member with the desire to include ideas and information from team members in a timely manner in order to draw scientific conclusions
n•    Candidate with up to date scientific background is a plus
n•    Hands on downstream experience
n•    Open-minded and detail oriented
n•    Strong trouble shooting and data analysis skills
n•    Design of Experiment (DoE) is a plus
n•    Chromatography Purification experience
n•    Diafiltration/Ultrafiltration experience
n•    Scale down/scale up knowledge
n•    Engineering knowledge/hands on experience with equipment troubleshooting is a plus
n•    Filtration experience
n•    Protein chemistry knowledge preferred
n•    Good aseptic techniques
n•    Good writing skills
n•    Good communication skills
n•    Experience with IND and BLA is a plus
