is announcing a Scientist I, Tumor Biology
opportunity at their facility in Seattle, WA
Purpose:
The Scientist I, Tumor Biology position will be directly responsible for developing and implementing assays related to characterization and improvement of cell therapy products. Results will directly impact strategic direction of future products in the immuno-oncology pipeline.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Develop and execute in vitro assays for characterization of natural killer cell therapy products.
Demonstrate creative problem-solving abilities to solve technical and biological challenges.
Work in a collaborative environment with other team members to accomplish shared goals.
Apply scientific rigor to all aspects of the job, including experimental design, troubleshooting, analysis, and interpretation.
Prepare technical reports, experimental summaries, and protocols/SOPs in specific area of research.
Regularly present research progress at group meetings and team meetings across Astellas sites.
Performs other duties as assigned or special projects as needed.
Quantitative Dimensions:
This position will play a critical role in developing next generation cell therapy products in collabation with other Astellas sites and Universal Cells project teams.
Organizational Context:
Reports to Director of Research.
Directly collaborates with colleagues within a core team as well as other teams within the Research group at Universal Cells.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
D. in Immunology, Cancer Biology, or a closely related field with an additional 0-3 years of relevant post-graduate experience, MS degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or BS with 8 years of relevant experience.
Hands-on experience characterizing immune effector cells using in vitro assays.
Understanding of key regulators of suppression of immune effector cells in the tumor microenvironment.
Experience in design, execution, and analysis of multi-color flow cytometry panels to characterize immune cell populations.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem solving skills with scientific attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong work ethic with a passion for working in a fast-paced, dynamic and diverse work environment.
Preferred:
Prior experience with natural killer cells.
Prior experience with cell metabolism in the context of immune effector cells and the tumor microenvironment.
Experience with in vitro and in vivo solid tumor models
Experience with immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry of tissue sections
Prior industry experience.
